Grades 4-8 : “Writing & TED Talk” Summer Camp

Campers will proceed on a journey of discovering the fundamentals and process of how an unforgettable TED talk is created and presented by exploring contemporary topics and social challenges in the field of debate. Students will start by developing a passionate topic or idea to be shared with the instructor and fellow campers where further crystallization of the topic will take place in the early stages of development.

Campers will also learn to debate contemporary social issues as a team in the process of developing their individual TED talk. A foundational TED talk research and development process as developed by TED's curator, Chris Anderson, will be adopted to create a compelling structure for the speech. The TED talk style of public speaking, presentation skills, and engaging mastery displayed in all great talks will be reviewed, analyzed, and put into practice by the campers throughout the Camp.

The final presentation of the camper's TED talk will be delivered to an external audience of family, siblings, and friends. Students will be presented with a certification of achievement upon completion of the camp. In addition, the student will be offered the opportunity to videotape the TED talk and hosted on the E.A.S.E. Youtube Channel upon approval from the guardian.

Grades 2-5 : “Writing & Speech”  Summer Camp

Campers will practice and develop techniques of a structured speech writing and presentation during the introductory course. In the “Writing & Speech Camp”, the objective is to build a confident writer and speaker in your child.

We will accomplish this goal by utilizing a structured pedagogy that will guide and develop your child’s abilities and skills on writing and presentation. Campers will be assigned informative, persuasive, and narrative formats of speech-writing and practice delivery of their respective speeches during class meetings.

On the final day of the course, students will deliver an extemporaneous speech to an audience consisting of parents, family, and guests. A certificate of Summer Camp completion will be awarded to every student on the final camp day.

Senna recently turned 8 years old -- with some hesitation, as she so enjoyed 7, but she went for it anyway. She's an enthusiastically homeschooled kid, with honorary membership at a wonderful Montessori school, a home teacher she adores, and plenty of activities like art classes (on a farm) and swimming.
